Types of Travertine Marble

There are many types and colors of marble; in this post, we tell you which are the most common and the most unique.

Marble owes its great qualities to its origin and its formation within the Earth. Among the practical characteristics of the stone, its hardness, coolness, and weight stand out. There is an enormous variety of marble colors, such as white marble, yellow marble, pink marble, brown marble, red and black marble, green marbles, etc.

Given the great variety of travertine marble types, there is a wide color palette ranging from ochres and creams to reds and yellows.

In a broad sense, all stone varieties belong to one of these three categories:

Igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. This classification corresponds to the different processes of rock formation.

Igneous Rocks

These are the oldest and are characterized by being exceptionally dense, which means they are very resistant to wear and tolerate intense polishing.

An example of this type of stone would be granite.

Sedimentary Rocks

They date from more recent geological periods and are the result of the consolidation of various forms of deposits in strata through the action of rivers, lakes, seas, and ice.

Examples of this type of stone would be travertine, sandstone, and slate.

Among the types of travertine marble, we can mention Yellow Travertine and Gold Travertine as exclusive materials from our firm with our own quarries. Their origin is found exclusively in the Los Marcelinos quarry in Albox, one of the oldest quarries on the Andalusian coast.

Margar Stone also distributes imported cream travertine, such as Roman Travertine and Cream Travertine.

Metamorphic Rock

This is the final and most recent category. It refers to rock that has been subjected to intense heat and pressure during the movement of the Earth’s crust and the formation of mountain ranges.

Examples would be marble and slate.

Among our light-colored marbles, we can mention Crema Marfil or our Moka or Capri limestones, which create a warm and welcoming sense of spaciousness. The brightness of cream-colored marble provides a serene and elegant touch of color.

Among our classes of marble, we can highlight red and black marble, as well as pink marble, as special and exquisite. Elegance, depth, and delicacy define these materials that are timeless and full of history.

Special mention goes to brown marble and green marbles, which radiate warmth beyond any trend, resulting in colorful and relaxed spaces.
