over two generations of experience
The Los Marcelinos quarry has been the heart of Albox’s natural stone for over a century. Its ashlar blocks were used to build the city’s Defense Walls in 1892. Today, Margar Stone extracts Yellow Travertine and Gold Travertine from that same earth—materials that have no equivalent anywhere else in the world.
What was once sold as raw blocks to other provinces is now fully transformed in our facilities, just 500 metres from the quarry mouth. Diamond wire cutting, precision calibration, and over 20 available finishes all originate in the same environment where the stone is extracted.
The result is total traceability: we know exactly which block and which sampling every piece in your project comes from. No intermediaries. No mixtures.
FINISHES
DIFFERENT WAYS TO EXPERIENCE NATURAL STONE
Natural
The face of the stone exactly as it comes out of the block, without any subsequent treatment. It preserves the original texture of the quarry: irregular, raw, and completely unique. Every piece is different, possessing an authenticity that no artificial process can replicate.
Honed
A surface soft to the touch with a subtle, uniform sheen. Honing reveals the veins and pores of the travertine without reaching the reflection of a polished finish, resulting in a warm and highly versatile finish, ideal for both contemporary interiors and high-traffic spaces.
Aged
A rugged texture obtained through controlled surface wear, mimicking the natural passage of time. Naturally slip-resistant (R11 rating), it is the most popular finish for exteriors, terraces, and facades where the stone must withstand water and the elements.
Polished
The surface is brought to its maximum state of shine through a progressive abrasion process. Polishing intensifies the tones and brings out all the internal movement of the travertine, achieving a mirrored finish that adds brightness and elegance to any interior space.
