FROM THE LAND OF ALMERÍA
A century-old history linked to Los Marcelinos, in Albox. Founded in 1994 by the Oller García family, Margar Stone is today one of the most recognized travertine companies in Spain.
margar stone
a family business with the soul of a quarry
The history of Margar Stone is tied to a land where natural stone is part of the landscape, the craft, and the memory of several generations. The Oller García family founded the company in 1994 to extract, process, and distribute Albox travertine to a standard that no middleman could match.
"In Albox, travertine is not just a material.
It is an industrial, artisanal, and human heritage."
- Oller García family, founders of Margar Stone
our history
More than a century on the same land
the first ashlar blocks
The stone from Los Marcelinos has been extracted since the end of the 19th century in a completely artisanal way—using sledgehammers, wedges, and chisels—building historical infrastructure in Albox such as the Defense Walls built in 1892 and the first bridges in the region.
the rise of Los Marcelinos
More than a hundred quarrymen, masters, and laborers from Albox and neighboring towns came daily to the site, under the iconic Pino de los Marcelinos. The first air compressors, drills, and trucks were introduced to transport blocks throughout Spain. Albox travertine began to make a name for itself.
company foundation 1994
The Oller García family founded Margar Stone — Travertino Amarillo Oro in Albox. For the first time, stone from Los Marcelinos was not sold as raw blocks: the company integrated extraction and processing under one roof, just 500 meters from the quarry.
opening international markets
Margar Stone participates in commercial initiatives to bring Almería travertine to markets in Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates, joining the Al-Andalus Stone Contract association. In 2009, AEPA honored Travertino Amarillo Oro at the III Albox Business Gala for its trajectory.
Cutting-edge technology
Investment in the Levibreton KFG 3000 by Breton (Italy)—the most advanced calibration and polishing line in the sector—and in CNC machinery, block gang saws, bridge saws, and a resining line. Production capacity and finishing precision reach international standards. ISO 9001 and CE Marking certified.
nat/int reference
Margar Stone's yellow travertine appears in Season 4 of Machos Alfa (Netflix). Participation in MARMOMAC Verona 2026, the leading international trade fair in the sector. 36,000 m² processed per year, projects throughout the European Union, and a consolidated presence in industry markets.
the oller garcía family
four brothers.
one single craft.
Margar Stone is, above all, a family business. The four Oller García brothers founded the company in 1994 and have spent more than three decades working side-by-side in the quarry, in the factory, and on every strategic decision. Each contributes their vision; together, they build something that none could build alone.
This way of working is evident in the product. The stone that leaves Albox bears the seal of those who truly know it: from the block that is extracted to the piece delivered to the client, it always passes through hands that care for it as their own.
We are not a multinational. We are a family that knows its quarry stone by stone, with 15 committed professionals and more than 30 years of accumulated experience in the natural stone sector.
the quarry
Los Marcelinos,
Albox, Almería
The Los Marcelinos quarry has been the heart of Albox’s natural stone for over a century. Its ashlar blocks built the city’s Defense Walls in 1892. Today, Margar Stone extracts yellow travertine and gold travertine from that same land, which has no equivalent anywhere else in the world.
What was once sold as raw blocks to other provinces is now fully transformed in our facilities, just 500 meters from the mouth of the quarry. Diamond wire cutting, precision calibration, and the more than 20 types of finishes available are all born in the same environment where the stone is extracted.
The result is total traceability: we know which block and which sample every piece that reaches your project comes from. No middlemen. No mixtures.
2009 AEPA Albox Business Gala Tribute
At the III Albox Business Tribute Gala, the Association of Entrepreneurs and Professionals of Albox (AEPA) recognized Travertino Amarillo Oro for its trajectory. The event brought together more than 400 attendees, including the Mayor of Albox and delegates from the Regional Government of Andalusia.
donation to the sanctuary of el saliente 2019
The Diocesan Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Forsaken of El Saliente Coronada thanked Margar Stone in an official letter for the donation of stone monoliths for the sanctuary's esplanade, highlighting the company's availability and its commitment to the heritage and community of Albox.
machos alfa series season 4 2023 netflix
